Steven W. Roth

Chairman of the Board and President

President and stockholder of North American Capital Corp., Mr. Roth is a successful entrepreneur and seasoned executive with extensive experience and a proven track record in hands-on crisis management and financial restructuring.  His expertise is in restoring operational and financially distressed businesses. Clients include a broad range of lending institutions, private equity groups, and insurance companies.  As a principal, Mr. Roth has successfully originated, negotiated and completed international transactions in the United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Germany and Switzerland, as well as numerous acquisitions in the United States.
 

Mr. Roth is also the Chairman and President of GPC International, Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary Chartpak, Inc., a North American Capital Corp. portfolio company. He is responsible for repositioning Chartpak as a leading creative products company servicing the art material, craft and hobby, office products and luxury brand markets. Some of Chartpak’s legacy branded products include Grumbacher for artist paint, Koh-I-Noor for drawing and sketching, Clearprint for art and engineering paper, Higgins Ink for calligraphy and mixed media, and Maco Office Products, as well as being a strategic distributor for international companies such as Schmincke for artist paints, Molotow for urban art materials, Pelikan for art materials and Fine Writing Instruments and Porsche Design for Fine Writing Instruments in North America.

 

Mr. Roth’s operational experience includes identifying and penetrating new distribution channels for consumer brands as well as reinvigorating legacy brands for today’s market. Mr. Roth initiated the development and implementation of educational painting classes (the Grumbacher Fine Art Painting Class), which are currently being taught in over 1,000 Michael’s stores in North America.

 

Mr. Roth is the creator and President of Thalo, LLC (www.thalo.com), an artist community and promotion engine for creative people to come to be inspired, to connect and to showcase their creativity.  Thalo features content (articles and videos) from around the world and provides a global perspective on all things creative.  Mr. Roth is the executive producer of thalo’s 50 short-featured videos covering all of the arts from fine arts to performing arts.  Some of the notable interviews are with musician and artist Tico Torres from Bon Jovi; actor and sculptor Daniel Stern; the Metropolitan Museum of Art; and Giant Studios, the animators of the movie Avatar.

In partnership with the Broadcast Film Critics’ Association (BFCA) and the Broadcast Television Journalist Association (BTJA), thalo has presented the thalo’s Critics’ Choice Inspiration Award.  Its purpose is to recognize creative people who inspire others through their art.  The 2012 award went to the NBC TV Series, “Smash” and the 2013 award went to the ABC Family TV Series, “Bunheads.”

Prior to joining North American Capital Corp., Mr. Roth was employed by Coopers & Lybrand in New York, a public accounting firm now known as Price Waterhouse Coopers.  Mr. Roth was a senior accountant who worked on various companies and special projects.  He holds a BBA from Hofstra University and is a CPA.  Mr. Roth is also a Director of the Secured Finance Network (formerly known as Commercial Finance Association) and proudly served as a Member of the Heckscher Museum Board of Trustees/Governors and Chairman of the Finance Committee from 2015 to June of 2020.
